1. Magnetic Title

When I use the word Magnetic, I am sure the first thought that comes to your mind is something that attracts.

If you want to attract your audience, then come up with an attractive Title, or what I call it as a Magnetic Title.

My biggest challenge was to come up with a nice Magnetic Title, so I used a popular strategy of creating my own technique.

Not only am I a ranking for the keyword I created, but at the same time, I am using something new in the title tag that makes people curious - some people might call it "click baiting".

How does a Magnetic title look like?

  • Simple title
  • 31 SEO copywriting technique to rank better
  • Magnetic title
  • 31 (Crazy) SEO copywriting technique to rank better
  • SEO copywriting: 31 techniques to rank better

Which one from the above will you likely click?

I'm sure; the Magnetic Title will get your attention as the title will make you more curious.

Here is a tool you can use by Co-Schedule what they call it as Headline Analyzer.

You should not rely on them 100% of the time, but it's a great tool when you need to identify which Power Word should I use for your article.

  • Use a Power Word in your Title tag, as that will help you to get more clicks.
  • Use () or [] brackets in your title, because it makes your title look different.

Google is supporting Emojis in the title tag, you should experiment the CTR with the Emojis, but you can very well use them in your project.

2. Magnetic Meta Description

After Meta Title, the next extremely important Google Ranking Factor is your Meta Description.

A well written meta description will increase your CTR. Also, Google might overwrite your meta description.

You can write up to 160 Characters in your Meta Description but you need to be extremely careful how you craft your meta description as this can really help you drive a lot of traffic.

Normal Meta Description:

SEO copywriting techniques that can help you write a better content for your next blog post.

Magnetic Meta Description:

Learn how to write a better content for your next blog post, using our proven techniques.

Look at how I have made the following words bold:

  • Learn
  • how to
  • proven techniques

Make sure to include the word Learn and How to in most of your projects (Magnetic Meta Description).

Just head over to google, and enter the keyword how to - and you'll be amazed how many times people use the word "how" to in order to learn.

The word "how" implies a technique, a method - is not actually learning - but most people are conditioned by this word!

I'm sure you might have used the how to word yourself multiple times while searching for something on Google.

At the same time, use the word Learn because when you are writing blog posts, people would search in the search engine to learn about that subject.

A combination of Learn How to "Your Keyword" works amazingly well, because you are not only targeting your primary keyword but you are also targeting some medium and long tail keywords without looking like you are stuffing your keywords.

If you have made your own technique or word, make sure to include that in the meta description as well.

Pro tip:

Include the Current Year in your meta description if you have space available - majority of the time, people want to learn something that's latest, and they could enter the year in the search result.

If you are into Event Blogging then include the Day, time, and your date accordingly.

→   Overcome the imposter syndrome as a blogger and write with confidence

3. Write a Killer Introduction

Look at the introduction of this article - talks about SEO copywriting techniques.

After you have clicked on the link, you want to ensure that you are letting your readers know what the article is all about and what can they expect after they have finished reading the article.

I use various Introduction Strategies depending on the kind of article I'm working on.

Introduction Method #1

One of the most popular way is by asking your reader a question at the beginning of your post.

Example:

Are you looking to improve your SEO Copywriting?

Since the user who landed on the article is looking to learn about SEO Copywriting, the question will trigger the psychological factor and trigger the conversion.

Let me explain you further.

Do you know what's the most important factor of human conversation?

It's Question & Answer!

When you start your blog article with a question, you are initiating the psychological conversation factor with your reader making him want to continue reading your article.

Introduction Method #2

Agree with what the user is looking to learn and read using the APP (Agree, Preview & Promise) method that I will cover in the later part of this guide.

Build a better structure for your contents in the form of Subheadings

I cannot emphasize more, the importance of structure for your content.

Those days of writing lengthy paragraphs of 200 lines are gone, the attention span of a user has dramatically decreased as the amount of data that exists has exceeded over the last several years.

In order to stand out, you need to structure your content better.

Structuring your content has a lot of advantages:

  • Formatting, shorter sentences & paragraphs
  • Use bricket bridges
  • Use LSI keywords
  • Built your own keywords
  • Use quora, reddit, forums to understand more specific keywords
  • Write a negative topic
  • Write 2500+ words blog post
  • Add custom social sharing icons

Above is a small glimpse of my backend, when I start working on any blog article.

Look at how I have structured everything in advance.

My research is already completed and now I can focus on writing without getting distracted.

Not only that, I now have the outlines that will avoid any possible Writers Block.

It also helps your reader to understand the structure of your entire blog post, and if they want to read only a specific section they can.

It also helps your reader understand what to expect. Sometimes, your readers will end up making notes from your blog.

When you have everything structured and organized, you are spoonfeeding your readers making them visit your website again.

Finally: Search Engine would absolutely loves you, if you make things easier for them, and when you write your contents in a nicely organized structured way, you are helping the crawlers to crawl your contents a lot faster.

Formatting, Shorter Sentences & Paragraphs

Formatting your blog post is an art that you can easily master with some practice, and by bookmarking this SEO Copywriting Hacks Guide ;)

Let me explain:

If I were to write this sentence:

I love writing blog posts, and hence I will keep writing more. I don't care if anyone is reading my blog posts, but I will keep writing. I also love SEO; I also love marketing. Facebook Marketing is my favorite technique to attract the audience, while I even use Google Adwords at times. But what is Facebook marketing? How do I use it? Can Facebook Marketing and Google Adwords be used at the same time?

Chances are; you will be lost because the above paragraph is too long, and it contains too many questions.

If you split that paragraph into multiple ones, the result is very different - looks different & would be much easier to read/follow.

You might already noticed this fact by reading this article, isn't it? :)

Short sentences & paragraphs are more readable in nature.

It will make your user be on your site for longer, also improve the readability of your blog posts.

Benefits?

  • Happy Readers, meaning they will subscribe & Share
  • Better Bounce Rate

Use The Bucket Brigades Technique

One of the most popular method used by a lot of popular authors and writers around the world: The Bucket Brigades Technique.

You might ask, what is "Bucket Brigades" and why do I use it?

Bucket Brigades are single words or phrases that add a conversational value to the contents you are working on.

It makes readers stick to your article like a glue.

Here is an example:

Look at how I just used Bucket Brigades with the phrase "Here is an example: "

Also:

I use Bucket Brigades for every blog article that I work on my blog. It helps me to increase the average time spent on the page that indicates how well the articles are written.

... and is also of the major ranking factors in Google's list of 200+ Ranking Factor.

Use LSI Keywords

Heard about LSI LSI..and LSI everywhere and you are wondering..

What is LSI aka Latent Semantic Indexing?

LSI as the name stands for Latent Semantic Indexing, it's term popularly used in the SEO industry for related terms, or to define the relation of the term.

Here is a typical example:

- My Neighbour has a Dog, and it's white in color.

But to elaborate further and help Google understand your keyword, here is how you can re-write:

- My Neighbour has a "Labrador dog", and it's white in color.

This is a concept of using the related term; you are explaining the relation of the term in a better way.

Here are few more examples:

- How to do a Keyword Research?

Here are some of the LSI keywords that you can mention:

- How to do Keyword Research and the SEO keyword research tools available for analysis.

In the above example, I have added related terms for the LSI keywords that were suggested to me by Google.

It helps Google's AI to understand the contents in a better way.

How to find LSI Keywords?

There are two ways:

1. Generate LSI Keywords using LSI Graph

It's a fantastic application (unfortunately, it's not free anymore), built by the famous SEO WordPress Plugin company SEOPressor.

To begin:

Enter your targeted keyword.

In our case, since we are in this guide, we are going to target the keyword SEO Copywriting.

Next:

Hit the Generate button!

LSI Graph gave me a lot of good suggestions.

Now:

You can build few sentences around those keywords. Please make sure not to stuff the keywords. Use the keywords that make sense.

For example:

So far, I have covered 7 SEO copywriting tips with several real SEO copywriting examples.

In the above example, I wrote two sentences that I use in the different section of my blog post.

2. Generate LSI Keywords using Google Searches

This one is very simple!

As you can see in the above example, Google Keyword Suggestion would suggest LSI terms. You can start noting down all the keywords.

Also:

Scroll down...

You will notice a bunch of keywords suggested by Google's related search suggestion.

8. Come up with Your Own Keywords

This technique works like magic!

What's the idea behind coming up with your own Keyword?

Not only you'll rank for your own branded keyword term, but if your content is good, then over a period of time it will start gaining popularity and might gain some backlinks as well.

9. Use Quora, Reddit, & Forums to understand more SPECIFIC keywords to Generate Contents Ideas

No one is interested in your story unless you are well known.

If someone is coming to your blog or website, then they are looking for solutions.

What's better than understanding your reader's keyword whom you are targeting...

We will begin with Quora!

Use the magic formula:
inurl:"quora.com" + keyword
in google search to get all the questions that people are asking on Quora related to your targeted keyword.

In this example, I will look use the following:

Now:

Look at the following screenshot to give a lot of Copywriting ideas.

In this case:

  • What is SEO Copywriting?
  • What is the difference between SEO Copywriting, SEO content writing?
  • What are the best tips for writing SEO friend copy?
  • What are the secrets of writing best SEO contents?

The above question gives you a fair idea helping you craft a better Outline for your blog article.

Next:

Let's look into Reddit for more constructive Outline ideas:

In this case:

  • How to Learn SEO Copywriting?
  • How do I become a Copywriter?

Also:

Look at the underlined statement:

  • Learn the basics of SEO Copywriting.

Reddit will give you some more fantastic content creation ideas.

Forums = ❤️

That's the co-relation some people have with forums, and one of the best way to come with content ideas.

First:

Find the top forums in your niche.

I am going to show a regular normal search using query string:

The negative Topic - we will cover that later, keep reading.

Here is how warrior forum has got an entire section on Copywriting that can help you generate more ideas.

Look at the screenshot carefully, and you can use those titles as the basis for Outlining to create an awesome blog article aka copywriting.

If you have followed the Quora, Reddit & Forum research technique then

all the above will help you create a fantastic Outline for your article which will help you to write 1500-2500+ words per topic that you want to cover.

In most cases, I use the same technique and average a minimum of around 2500+ words per article.

10. Write About a Negative Topic

How many times have you seen blog posts like SEO is dead, or are PBNs still worth it?

I bet if you are in the SEO industry, then you might have come across those questions, or blog post many times.

I'm even sure that you would have ended up clicking those articles.

In short:

How many times have you considered writing a negative post?

I am sure, the answer is either none or maybe a few times.

Here are some reasons why you should consider:

If you look to the screenshot, the keyword SEO is dead has 590 monthly searches which are not bad at all because the competition for that keyword is very less.

If you have good contents, and proper On page SEO then you can get on page one without even building any backlinks.

11. Write 2500+ Blog Post using Expanded Bullet Technique

How often can you write a masterpiece?

Chances are you might be wondering: how can you write 2500+ words blog article?

It's simple!

Use the Expanded Bullet Technique!

In this technique instead of writing just writing the bullet point, you expand that point.

How to do that?

Here is a quick example:

When I googled the keyword "how to improve your writing"

I landed on this site which had a good content, but were not detailed

As you can see, this is a classic example where details are not in-depth.

In fact, this topic can get as in-depth as 10,000+ words article because you already have the points with you.

If we take the first point as an example:

  • Learn how to write good sentences - a sparkling sentence is the basic ingredient of good writing

I will probably go in-depth:

A good subheading is the basis of a good article, in order to get started with a good How to guide let's take an example:

To get started with a basic How to guide you require the following ingredients:

  • What is the conclusion (or result)?
  • How many steps are required to accomplish
  • Pictures of every single step
  • Basic or detailed description about every single point.

Here is an amazing step by step how to guide from wikihow.

As you can see in the above image, they have listed down everything in-depth

Also, if you see, they have gone as far as showing three different methods of writing a simple "How to" guide.

Now:

If you look at the above example once again, you will notice that instead of just writing the listicle point, I went ahead and expanded that single bullet point to go as in-depth as possible.

With the example, now...

You as a reader will never leave the site and go elsewhere.

Expanded bullet technique has been one of the major reason why I am able to go very in-depth for all my articles so far.

12. The Cover Later Method

Yup! In order to keep your users engaged, don't provide them with all the data right away.

Accordingly to an article from Time.com

Tony Haile of Chartbeat says that 55% of the site visitors leaves in roughly 15 seconds.

A normal human eye can read roughly around 230-250 words per minute.

That means if your visitors are abandoning your site in 15 seconds then they are reading roughly around 55-65 words.

Most visitors will scroll through 60% of the website.

While writing, don't specific all the details, instead give them a teaser and ask them you'll cover the subject later.

At this point:

While it's important to keep your contents engaging, you have to make sure you don't give out all the details, add teasers and provide the information later.

That will make users stay on your page for longer.

Here are the list of phrases you can use:

  • Please continue reading
  • Will cover at the later part of this guide/tutorial
  • Jump to Conclusions
  • I will be covering at later part of this tutorial
  • Please read this point thoroughly to understand to the next point
  • Please scroll up for reference

13. Add Plenty of Pictures, Videos, and Media

You are a frequent reader - you'll notice something, something unique and different.

I use a lot of Photos, screenshots, videos and medias throughout my blog posts in order to keep the users engaged.

According to Chartbeat a visitor looks through 100% of your visual contents on your website.

This is one of the reasons why sites like Buzzfeed is extremely popular.

Pro Tip: Do not link back to any of your competitor's website for your targeted keywords while writing contents. Look for research or education sites.

Chances are, you are helping them to stay ranked.

14. Use Emoji to connect better and possibly rank for them

While searching for emojis, I found something very interesting

At the time of writing, I have no seen anyone covering this with SEO in mind.

I found that people have started using emoji as a keyword which means if you start adding them on your blog, you could potentially get some traffic from them.

Not only that..

A study reveals that over 92% of the world's population now uses Emojis.

As of today, close to around 1851 emojis are available.

Emojis today are sent as often as someone sending out an image or a video.

Emojis also helps you make your conversational tone very light helping you to connect better.

In fact, you will often see various brands using it openly on social media to connect better.

Another example:

If you are still not using emojis in your blog post then start using them as it can really help you to connect better with your reader.

Isn't it cool? 😎

15. Self Centered Blog Post

People come to your website to read contents, the theme & layout plays a very important role.

Learn from Medium.com

The Medium platform has some of the finest authors in the world writing publishing contents every day.

They use a centered layout.

Medium's platform is amazing, and over the last several years they have tweaked their layouts for the best reader experience.

While they have spent millions of dollars on the research, you can use their research and build a similar layout.

Remove those cheesy sidebars, and center your contents.

16. Become a Storyteller

Humans have a tendency to forget, that's how we are wired.

... unless they being told a story.

According to a research:

  • Human brains can synchronize with stories.
  • Stories can help you connect with your audience.
  • Story helps you develop a better memory.

Presenting your contents in the form of story or questionnaire would help you to connect with the audience in a better way.

If you want to master your art of storytelling then do check out this amazing piece by Alex Limberg.

So,

Next time when you are writing a piece of content or a blog article, make sure to be a good storyteller.

17. Provide Data, Statics, Numbers & Case Study

No one likes guess work or hypothetical theories.

You or I want simply want to know what works, hence my entire is purely data driven.

You may ask why?

Simply because people are more curious to read the information that works.

Example of a Blog Providing Data, statics & number

One of my favorite Data Driven SEO sites is Ahrefs.

Ahrefs is currently world's second fastest crawler in the world post-Google where they are crawling billions of URLs per day.

With so much data, Ahrefs has shared some real dimension and data all over their blog.

Example of a blog providing case study

When it comes to providing real case, this one genious tops the list, his name is Brian Dean, the founder of Backlinko.

A while back, he posts an article for SEO Checklist that led to some of his reader using his list.

People start emailing him that his findings were working.

Result?

He posted a new blog post with his seo checklist as a case study.

If you look at the number of social share (Yes! those are real share), you will notice it attracted over 2400 tweets and 1300 facebook share at the time of writing this article.

Another example of a case study

When I was looking to settle down with my preferred CMS, I was wondering whether I should go with WordPress or Ghost CMS.

I did my own due diligence and started running multiple tests.

Not only it generated a good amount of spark among the users, but it also initiated a lot of people to spark the conversation on forums.

In fact, my link got shared 101 times at the time of writing this article.

As a matter of fact, I generated a lot of traffic through Reddit.

Case Study works regardless whether you have achieved something positive or failed with your experiments.

18. Use of Modifiers in the Title & Contents

Modifiers, huh?

Don't worry, I'll explain, and I'll in-depth with some very good examples, keep reading...

What are Modifiers?

A modifier is a word, or a phrase used in the function to describe the meaning of the other word or sentence.

Layman's language:
A Modifier has the power to change the meaning of a sentence or clarifies with better explanation with details of any given sentence.

The Use of Modifiers in Sentences

Here is a regular sentence:

I am soon going to cover an article on Facebook Marketing.

Here is an example of the use of Multiple Modifier:

On 1st of May 2022, I'll be publishing an in-depth article on Facebook Marketing that will cover the basics of Facebook Page, Facebook Groups, & Facebook ads.

I'm sure you'll agree when I say:

The later part or the multiple modifier examples would look more appealing because your readers want to know: When, What & How..

The use of Modifiers in Title

In this example, I'll demonstrate my previous blog post that I wrote on Keywordly technique.

My Targeted keyword was Keyword Research that gets close to around 18,100 unique searches per month.

But:

Instead of just coming up with title:

Keywordly Technique: Keyword Research Guide in 2017

I came up with the modified title:
Keywordly Technique: Keyword Research for SEO (Updated 2017)

Now, Let's see why I did that:

Look at my second targeted keyword: keyword research for SEO - that keyword brings close to around 320 unique monthly search

Pro Tip: Use Modifies in your Meta Description as well to drive more traffic.

19. Use the APP Method

One of my favorite technique that I use very often (along with triggering the mind with questions) developed by Brian Dean.

What is APP Method?

APP Method stands for Agree Promise & Preview

How does it work?

First, you agree with whatever your topic is about, or whatever your reader wants to know.

While you start with the introduction,

Agree with whatever your reader, as that will help you to connect with them.

Now you have established some connection, promise them with what you can deliver in your article.

Finally, it's time to Preview some a glimpse of your article..

20. Get More Content Ideas from HARO

HARO, huh?

What is HARO and why should I use it?

Haro stands for Help a Reporter Out.

They started as a Facebook group several years ago after which they ended building a website.

HARO is reporter's hangout place!

You know what that means? Not only high-quality backlinks but also a way to understand the kind of contents those journalists are looking to write for their audience.

That mean, they have done their research.

Here is how it works:

Click on I'm A Source and sign up.

Once signed up, you will be redirected to the dashboard.

Head over to My HARO

Next:

Scroll down to HARO Preferences

Select your category.

Once done, you will receive some emails every single day with Journalist asking you a bunch of questions.

In this example, will look at this subject:
How do you if you are an entrepreneur?

You now have some more fresh content outline for your blog.

21. Add a Call To Action

One of the most important aspects of any business, blog or website is to provide a solution or answer.

In doing do, you need to treat your visitors as a new born baby.

Add a Frequent call to action on your website, and be clear what action do you want your visitor to perform.

For example, while writing this whole guide on SEO Copywriting, I have several calls to action.

I am asking you (my readers to keep reading)!

P.S. The call to action will also help you to increase the engagement rate of your post.

22. Interlink your contents

This one little secret technique can help you skyrocket your rankings instantly.

Slypress blog - is doing a fantastic job by giving you interlinking oportunities. Is a goldmine!

If you interlink one page of your site with another page, then that helps the bot crawlers to crawl more efficiently.

Pro Tip: You can analyze the Interlinks from your Google webmasters tool.

Head over to your Google Webmaster Tool Dashboard and click on Search Traffic -> Internal Links.

23. The First Half of your section matters the most

People often tend to get bored.

I am sure, even most of the users won't read this entire article, just will just read the heading.

As mentioned above in my Cover Later Method (if you haven't read yet, then please scroll up):

People only read 50% of the blog article, of which most of the time spent is on the first half of the section.

Only if you can manage to keep your users engaged, they will lead to reading the rest of the article.

If you are reading this, then congrats! You have unlocked the super power to become an amazing SEOer and you fall in the other 50% of category who reads the entire article :)

For you, I will write a more in-depth article (just let me know the topic you want me to cover in the comment section below).

I won't just throw some random stuff. I call myself Data Scientist, and I love numbers.

Just for this one point alone, I started tracking my first Article several months ago.

For which I am using my favorite heat map tool Hotjar.

As you can see, the introduction has been seen by 80.3% of the visitors.

Here is the statistics for the half of the blog post:

Close to around 43.6% of the users have scrolled to the middle section.

As you can see, I am very close to Chartbeat's statistics.

Next:

Here is the screenshot of conclusion, the ending of the article.

Out of every 100 visitors, I have around 18.5 visitors (I know the half is funny, so I will round this off to 19 :D) that has read my blog article completely which is very good.

24. Write a better closing

Generally, your closing statement plays the second most important role in your article after the introduction.

You may ask why?

If you connect well with your audience, they are likely to share your article, link your article on their website, or leave a comment on your article.

How to write an ideal closing?

Keep it simple, precise with a quick summary and a call to action.

Here is an example:

My conclusion is as in-depth as a sub-topic!

  • Summarize your topic quickly
  • Let your readers know, you are always there for them
  • Ask them for their suggestions
  • Call to Action
  • Request them to share.

Do spend time and focus on how you want to end your topic!

Pro Tip: create some suspense and mention what your next topic would be, and ask your users to subscribe.

25. Use Bold, Italic, Underline.

Before I begin telling you when and how to use it, let me give you the benefits:

1. It increases the average reading time on your website.

There are thousands of articles published every single day, and most avid readers in the world want to quickly read through the entire blog article to move to the next site... and you want to slow them down?

This is where with the help of Bold, Italic and Underline, you can slow them down because when something is in bold, people tend to read the same word or sentence a few times.

2. Help you get their attention

Imagine, me writing this entire article in a couple of massive paragraphs, you would have run away.

That's correct... but when you add Bold a certain word, that sends a signal to the brain letting them know it's important.

3. Helps you with SEO

Ahh, I've got your attention!

Yup! when you add bold, italic and underline on your targeted keywords, it will help bots to understand your articles better.

4. Helps you with better formatting

When you want to format your article, get attention, then these tags helps your article to stand out.

Meaning & Use of Bold

Bold or emphasis tag is used when you want to highlight the strong sentence, keyword or any important message.

Meaning & Use of Italic

Italic tags are used to highlight any conversation, dialogues, sentences etc.

Meaning & Use of Underline

Underline on the web is mostly used for only to highlight a link to differentiate from regular text.

26. Use Power Words to enhance your blog post

Do you see those amazing titles and carefully choosen words to clickbait (I know you are thinking about my title)

Words are the most powerful weapon. It can make you do anything, make you learn everything and can destroy you at the same time.

So,

How do I become a better writer?

Simple:

94% said OK

It appears that giving the "reason why of because I’m in a rush boosted the effectiveness of the request immensely.

But here’s the kicker:

29. Write your blog and copies in Active Voice

People would connect to you better if you start writing your blog post in an active voice.

This point is by no means to teach you about Grammar but a better understanding about structural writing goes a long way.

Why?

Because when you write in active voice, the connection established between and your reader would be far deeper.

In my entire several years of copy writing, blog writing and much more, I have learned that whenever I write in active voice, it converts better.

Keeping this point extremely short, the key is to improve your copywriting.

Also, write contents that would convert and brings Sales 🤑

What is Active Voice?

In any given sentence, where you have an action verb and the subject performs the action is an active voice.

What's is Passive Voice?

In any given sentence, where the subject no longer is active, but instead, it's acted upon.

30. The Link Out Technique

Outbound links!

Once of the basic question I always get from people is the meaning of "Outbound links"

If you are one of the pros then you are already a HERO and you know the meaning but for someone just starting out, it's a way how you link your anchor text to some other blog to relate a certain part of the content.

Why do I give a link to someone else?

Short Answer:

Because Google likes that!

Who should you link to and whom to avoid?

I often make sure that I do not link my articles to any of the top 5 pages for my targeted keywords.

Why?

Because by giving them a link back, I am making it difficult for my own article to rank for the exact same keyword.

I often link my articles to Authority publications or research sites. Though, I do make exception at times and link to my competitor's site to build relation. :)
